Fixing Arena Net's Mistake - Part 1 - Character Customization
Fixing Arena Net’s Mistakes – Part 1
Character customization is greatly lacking in Guild Wars.
Arena Net is too busy working on Guild Wars 2, so I figured I would fix their problems cause I’m such a nice guy.
Characters Need More Customization In Physical Appearance
-Add Tattoos (All types Girly, Guy, Skulls, Angels, Demons, Etc – Go here for ideas http://www.tattoofinder.com/)
-Allow weight customization (Skinny, Obese, Medium, Etc)
-Allow Earrings (Males + Females; varying sizes + styles + gemstones + gold/silver metal)
-All muscle customization; not all of us want to be a Hercules (Small muscles, large muscles)
-Allow more face customization. Everything on the face should be separate, NO WHOLE FACES! I want to choose a different nose, mouth, ear, eye, eye color, eyebrow, mustache, facial hair, etc I should be able to adjust the size and color of each of these)
-Combine all the hairstyles, faces, into one master selection depending on the expansions you have purchased. Sometimes I want to put a Tyrian face with a Canthan hairstyle with an Elonian skin color. LET ME!
-Allow me to choose my avatar’s animations! They’re should be an animation library in game and anytime I am in an outpost I can change my animations to how I see fit. Player’s shouldn’t be stuck with animations they don’t like.
-Allow me to adjust my looks at anytime. I should have the ability to change my looks once a month without penalty, but to do it more than that there should be a small gold fee to serve as a gold sink. Maybe a couple thousand gold.
-Allow the addition of make up (Sorry, this should be for females only)
-Allow highlights for female hair and be able to adjust the color, location, size of said highlight.
-Allow me to show my weapons in outposts! (Add an option for people who don’t want to see other people’s weapons, and to hide your weapons like we have currently)
-Allow me to select how my weapons are sheathed on my back, on my side, on my backpack, in my backpack, through a belt loop, inside of its own holder!
Feel free to add anything else you think I might have missed!

yeah this is all good, and will hopefully be implemented in gw2 (the highlights thing is kinda fruity for me, same with makeup and earrings.)
yeah i totally agree with the sheathes n stuff, because honestly, who in the middle ages ran around with their sword out through the entire continent, and then put it in a little tiny pouch that is invisible (I.E. inventory) to store it.
i don't want my war to be obese anymore

I agree with you a little bit, I was trying to think of what a female would like =P
But some of the faces currently in Guild Wars have some make up on them, so I don't feel that make up is too large of a stretch.
Earrings were used for thousands of years; since the dawn of time. It is unusual for their to be no earrings in my opinion.

IDK about you guys, but I'm fine with the customization. I dont think I've ever run into a twin on any of my 4 characters.
If you want Tattoos, be a rit

You must have pretty mix-matched combinations then....
I have ran into multiple twins of my warrior and ranger. =(

I see copies of my characters everywhere, it makes me sad. Very sad.
I would love to see some more in-depth character customization.

This.
How do you feel when you go on a shopping spree, dressing up your character, and then two seconds later BAM! You run into 5 clones of the exact same armor, shield/offhand, dye as you.. =(

That's a good one.
The others are good but come on, it's not the Sims game (and even in the Sims you can't do some of those things xD).
And you can get earrings and necklaces xD while you are wearing certain armors (mostly the canthan ones).

LOL! Your list is outrageous.
Even WoW doesn't have that kind of customization, and they're making millions of dollars every month. There is no way we'd ever see pretty much any of that in GW.
Nice ideas, but thats all they will ever be.

6- No. The different faces identify each character as being from a particular campaign/continent.
7- No... You'd never want to buy another character slot just to look at the dance again. Now, where's the money in that for ANet?
8- Deal... But more than a 'couple thousand'. I'd say 10k or 15k.
Everything else is wonderful, /signed.

When was Warcraft developed? 2000-2004 I think?
I hope that Guild Wars will have more advanced technology to do more advanced things than Blizzard seven-nine years before them.

Sorry but WoW doesn't really offers a lot on physical customization (weapons and armors are another thing).
Also even if they added all of those options you will still see your twins. Why ? Because you aren't the only one in the world that likes that face + color + armor + highlight + tatoo + hair style. The can put a million hair style and only 5 will be really cute, 100 will be okay and the rest will be ugly xD.
Btw : I have not seen a twin of my main yet. The closest I came was the same haircut and face and that's all (and I did not pick an ugly face/haircut xD).

Hmm, so we add earrings because they have been around for thousands of years, but men can't wear make-up even though this is the norm in some cultures and has been for thousands of years?
So what you are saying is that you want more customisation, but only if it fits in with your personal preferences?
Way to go
For the record I'm a guy who has never worn make-up ( except when I used to go to Rocky Horror Show), but it seems to me I'd be mighty arrogant to press my attire choices on an entire community!

Wouldn't most people describe that as pretty much a twin?
And I agree about males should also have access to make-up, highlights, and jewellery.
But what about piercings? My necro would kill for a lip piercing.
Other than that, I agree with all on the list.

/signed - this is so needed and it would require a stylist type NPC for already made characters so there is a way to remake the appearances of your existing chars.

Are you a girl? I mean I'm sorry, but seriously. I understand the need for character customization, but asking for highlights that you can change the position and color of? And earrings? If you want to play dressup, buy a damn doll. I agree with some of your ideas and opinions ( especially in the other thread ) but this is a game, not a fashion show. The character models could do with a little tweaking but are otherwise pretty decent. I would like to have all the campaigns models blended into one though.

Touchée xD
But let's see :
The guy is complaining that he sees twins of his chars too much (having the same haircut + hair color + face + armor + dye), so adding accessories or make-up won't change the fact that you have twins xD.
So I used the wrong word, I should have used "a perfect lookalike" xD.
